The Purpose of the Position

Student Campus Officer

Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Are you calm, approachable, and confident in promoting safety and wellbeing?

Winstanley College is looking for a Student Campus Officer to be a visible and supportive presence across the campus. This varied role combines physical and practical responsibilities with student engagement to ensure a safe, respectful, and well-organised environment.

You will play an active role in keeping the college running smoothly by moving equipment around campus, supporting student-led activities, and assisting with day-to-day operations. You will also manage car park duties during busy times, ensuring safe access for students, staff, and visitors.

Maintaining site security and order is a key part of this role. You will monitor student behaviour and manage situations calmly. Your confident presence will help prevent issues from escalating and support a positive atmosphere across the college.

Alongside these duties, you will engage with students daily, build positive relationships, and act as a first point of contact for welfare concerns—signposting individuals to services such as Safeguarding, Pastoral Support or Counselling. You will model respectful behaviour and support the college’s values through consistent and supportive interactions.

We are looking for someone approachable, resilient, and confident in handling challenging situations. Experience in youth work, security, or pastoral roles is welcome, and holding an SIA badge (or willingness to obtain one) is highly desirable.

In return, you will join a supportive and student-focused team, receive training in safeguarding and conflict management, and play a vital role in helping students feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed.

This is a mobile role around the College campus, and some lifting and carrying will be required. This can be discussed further at interview.
