The Purpose of the Position

Are you passionate about helping young people flourish? Do you enjoy being a visible, approachable presence on campus? Winstanley College is looking for a Student Campus Officer to become the friendly face of our college—someone who engages proactively with students and champions their wellbeing.

In this vital role, you will work closely with students each day, building positive relationships through friendly interactions and being a trusted point of contact for any concerns related to their welfare. You will play a key part in promoting respectful behaviour and reinforcing the college's values by acting as a positive role model. Your presence around campus will help ensure a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

You’ll support student wellbeing by signposting individuals to appropriate internal services such as Safeguarding, Pastoral Support and Counselling. You’ll also collaborate with the wider Student Services team, Safeguarding staff and Senior Leaders to uphold a strong college culture. Your role will include being active and present during unstructured times such as before lessons, during breaks and after college, helping students stay engaged and focused.

You will assist with activities and student-led initiatives to foster a sense of community. In addition, you will provide a visible and reassuring security service to students, staff and visitors, maintaining a safe, secure and well-organised campus at all times.

We’re looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who is approachable, empathetic and a great listener. You’ll be genuinely committed to supporting young people and confident in addressing low-level behavioural matters. A proactive and collaborative approach is essential, as is the ability to respond appropriately to concerns and escalate when needed. Experience in schools, youth work or pastoral roles is desirable, though not essential.

In return, you’ll join a supportive and student-focused team where every day is varied and rewarding. You’ll have access to training in areas such as safeguarding and mental health awareness, and benefit from a welcoming college community with a strong sense of purpose.

This is a mobile role around the College campus, and some lifting and carrying will be required. This can be discussed further at interview.
