Job Title: Personal Tutor
Location: Winstanley College, Billinge, Wigan, WN5 7XF
Salary: S9 £26,818 – S11 £28,634 (actual £23,946 - £25,567)
Contract Type: Full-time / Fixed term maternity cover until July 2025 / Term Time + 5days
Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 8.30 – 4.30 pm (45-minute unpaid lunch)
Start Date: ASAP

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Personal Tutor to join our Guidance team. As a Personal Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic progress, personal development and well-being throughout their time at College. You will provide guidance, monitor student attendance and progress and help students set and achieve their educational and career goals.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide regular one-to-one and group tutorials to support students’ academic, personal and social development
• Monitor and track student attendance, progress and behaviour
• Support students in setting realistic academic and career goals and creating action plans
• Liaise with subject tutors, support service and parents/carers as appropriate
• Identify and refer students requiring additional support to relevant College services
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and wellbeing
• Maintain accurate records and reports in line with College policies
About You
• A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their best
• Experience working with young people in an educational setting, preferably in a sixth form or education environment would be beneficial
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to motivate and inspire students
• Understanding of safeguarding and promoting student welfare
• Organised and able to manage caseloads effectively
• A positive, proactive and student centre approach
• Relevant qualification in education, counselling, youth work or related fields are desirable
