The Role

We are seeking an inspirational and highly motivated Assistant Head of Physics & Engineering to join our thriving Science and Technology faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and passionate teacher to take the next step in their career and play a key role in shaping the future of the Physics and Engineering provision.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Department in leading a strong and committed team, ensuring the highest of standards of teaching, learning and student achievement across A level Physics, BTEC/CTEC Engineering, and related pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the strategic leadership and day to day management of the Physics & Engineering department

• Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring high-quality, innovative and inclusive learning experiences

• Assist with monitoring student progress and complementing effective intervention strategies

• Lead and coordinate specific departmental initiatives, enrichment activities and partnerships with industry or HE institutions

• Model outstanding classroom practice and support colleagues through mentoring and professional development

• Promote a culture of high expectations, academic excellence and student engagement

About You

• Qualified teacher status (QTS), or equivalent

• Strong subject knowledge in Physics & Engineering

• Demonstrate strong leadership potential, communication skills and the ability to inspire both students and colleagues

• Commitment to continuous professional development, and helping shape am ambitious departmental vision

• A collaborative team player who contributes positively to College life

• Brings energy, creativity and a genuine passion for post-16 education
